Street Art at the Street Party

Street Party Brendon Way, Ashby de la Zouch

'Sun is shining in the sky, there's not a cloud in sight...' and Mr Blue Sky was a welcome guest at the wedding of our future king and his bride in the country's capital, as well as at each and every street party held the length and breadth of this fair land last Friday 29th.

I would like to thank my friend, Sue, as well as the residents and near neighbours of Brendon Way, Ashby de la Zouch, situated in leafy NW Leicestershire, for inviting me and my family along to, what turned out to be, a happy, memorable occasion.

After formal toasting the entertainment included sporting activities, quizzes, a raffle, and a cake baking competition. And music, food and drink in the sunshine.

Girls making their mark!
I was there in my community artist role and acknowledge that the addition of the street art which included face painting, flag making, and the painting of a large, commemorative mural was, in the words of the two ladies who organised - 'the icing on the cake! Well done to all involved.
