Science Activity Books For Young Children

1. FOX IN THE NIGHT

The striking illustrations represent:

1. the brightness of daytime activities going on above ground while Fox is in the den sleeping

2.the growing shadows under a setting sun and..

3. the artificial lighting in cities, towns, roads and alleyways under a night sky.

The simple story of Fox over a 24 hour period introduces young children to the concepts of light and dark.

This is part of the Science Storybook series from Walker Books and is written by Martin Jenkins; illustrations by Richard Smythe.

Educational Activities : Aside from the natural run of the story there is additional information formatted into small paragraphs throughout, this ties the science around the subject in with the everyday and 'real life' happenings. Readers are encouraged to review and re read the book to identify words to do with both light and dark - for example: electricity; heat; moonlight and reflection.
