Work In Progress Dan Pearce and his Lockdown Bar

Dan decided to undertake a home project during Coronavirus lockdown (UK) which involved all of his family. Wife, Wendy wanted proper gym space, and their two sons: a gaming area. Dan's intent was to turn the garden shed to incorporate these requests, and to include in the design a bar.

The diy project in total involved the replastering of the walls, the laying of new floor and the installation of electrics and a complete redecoration. Dan fitted storage for gym equipment down one end, with a TV with online access for the boys gaming requirements and for Wendy's exercise videos.

The bar itself is handmade, with concealed lights, shelving, a bar fridge with the walls painted in midnight blue. Dan made the bar top using copper which already possessed a lovely patina. He covered the whole of the front with a structure showing his own artwork in his signature style, with the heads of late great music icons Jimmy Hendrix, John Lennon, David Bowie, and Amy Winehouse - so impactful and strikingly bold!

Dan also produced some original artworks for the walls to complement the theme on the bar front, some of which he traded with another artist/maker as an exchange for the swallow shaped lights (see image below).
