Featuring Textile Artist, Susan Briscoe

I am relatively new to quilting, taking up the craft, in earnest, in the summer of last year (2018). I was lucky to have chatted with the author, Susan Briscoe at The Festival of Quilts event of the same year, and Briscoe recommended this, her own book, to myself and a friend on the day. At the time the pair of us had limited knowledge and were unfamiliar with terminology; we were clueless and didn't know where to start! Since, we've equipped ourselves with essential tools and materials and purchased new sewing machines, and between us we undertaken half a dozen or so quilting projects and have learned quickly with the help of Briscoe's book and other quilters who publish how-to-do instructions online.

Briscoe is an award winning textile artist and designer from Wrexham. The book mentioned here, is one of many publishing successes she has enjoyed. Briscoe has a particular interest in Sashiko (a traditional stitching technique from Japan and Bangladesh respectively). She also has a passion for Japanese and indigo dyed fabrics. Briscoe teaches too. Face-to-face we found her patient when we grilled her for information :) and her enthusiasm for her craft we found inspiring.
