Featured Children's Graphic Novel Summer 2020 - InvestiGATORS
InvestiGATORS
by John Patrick Green
Overview
The first of a series of three graphic novels for children featuring undercover agents, Mango and Brash (comic Alligator characters). Here, in their first adventure, the InvestiGATORS are assigned to solving the disappearance of cupcake chef, Gustavo and his medium-sized oven from Batter Down bakery. Therefore, the bakery is a good place for the two investiGATORS to start.
The action which follows, is the result of a bakery order for a giant birthday cake, custom-made, and delivered to a scientist recipient. Press coverage involves unfolding events at the science factory in which the scientist works. But is this all a cover up?
Together, Mango and Brash solve the mystery elements of a rapidly changing story, which includes such things as a whacky experiment with dough and technological contraptions used to commit crime(s). Eventually, the identity of the villian(s) (and other crazy secrets) are revealed.
a. the comic style is cohesive with some amusing puns and asides.
b. the graphical drawings by John Patrick Green are a triumph. Hand drawn on specialist art paper and digitally enchanced and coloured.

Comment
Has a reading format that is hugely popular. An endearing story that will appeal to a young audience who likes fast-paced, daft humour (for ages 7 - 10 years).
In regard to presentation, this is perfectly brilliant!
