This is a nature storybook about hedgehogs suitable for children around reception class age or as an anytime read for young nature-lovers. Author and illustrator, Jane McGuinness introduces the Hedgehog; we follow this little creature through the course of one year. 3. How Does My Home Work?

The third title in a series of process books for Key Stage 1 learning. This stylishly illustrated book explains how our homes are supplied with electricity, water and gas. The book is by Chris Butterworth and illustrated by Lucia Gaggiotti. Mechanical processes required to produce and operate the things in our homes is explained. The journey of water for example, describing how rainfall gets collected up from reservoirs and sent to factories to be treated and tested, before being piped to our homes. Butterworth also explains how electricity is made and where the gas we use in our boilers comes from. This process book succeeds in being child-centred and friendly, but also includes informative information.
